Yasunori Yamaguchi, PhD President and CEO
Dr. Yasunori Yamaguchi was named President and CEO of BioWa, Inc. on April 1, 2011. With more than 20 years of research and business experience, Dr. Yamaguchi has been appointed to lead BioWa to the next stage of corporate development.
Beginning his journey within Kirin as a Research Scientist in Discovery Research, Dr. Yamaguchi was also a guest Investigator within the Laboratory of Cellular Immunology and Physiology at the Rockefeller University, New York with Professor Ralph Steinman. Over a two year period he was involved in research collaboration between Kirin and The Rockefeller University. This lead to his position as Research Head of the Cellular Immunotherapy Group in the Research Laboratories before moving to the Head Office as Senior Manager of the Research Planning Section of the Planning Department. Here he managed the strategic planning of drug discovery research, establishing a new strategic alliance with a US company. Before moving to Princeton,
Dr. Yamaguchi worked in the immunology therapeutic area as Deputy Director of the Strategic Product Planning Department in Tokyo, developing strategic planning of products, cultivating the therapeutic area and product portfolio management.
Dr. Yamaguchi received his Master’s Degree and his Doctorate in Immunobiology from the Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University. Dr. Yamaguchi also completed the Executive Management of Technology Program at MIT Sloan School of Management, Boston, MA.
Masahiro Hara, CFO

Masahiro Hara, CFO
Masahiro Hara has served as Chief Financial Officer at BioWa, Inc. since 2010, managing all financial and accounting-related activities.
Before joining BioWa, he worked in the Clinical Development Division of Kyowa Hakko Kirin, Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, managing the entire financial portfolio of the clinical development program, which focused on Oncology, Immunotherapy, and Kidney Disease, throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and Japan. Prior to this position, he worked on establishing a strategy to launch a new pharmaceutical compound worldwide with the Corporate Development Division. He has more than 15 years of domestic and international experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Hara holds a B.S. in Agriculture from Kyushu University in Japan and an MBA from Boston University School of Management.
Marc Silver, Vice President Corporate Development

BioWa, Inc. has announced the appointment of Marc Silver to Vice President, Corporate Development. Mr. Silver is responsible for continued business development of BioWa’s POTELLIGENT® platform, and extending BioWa’s business activities into related areas.
Mr. Silver has over twenty years of strategic and transactional business development experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. He previously held senior management positions at Praecis Pharmaceuticals, Ardais Corp. and the American Type Culture Collection where his responsibilities included corporate partnership development, licensing, and intellectual property management. He has an extensive “deal sheet” including a number of significant development and commercialization transactions. Mr. Silver has also been involved in the founding, financing and initial development of life science companies including Aspect Medical Corp., Arris Pharmaceuticals, TargeTech Inc. and Envirogen Corp.
Mr. Silver received an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and his Master’s in Business from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
